We are preparing for the Winter Solstice this week. The Winter Solstice occurs on December 21st helping us close out the year. Mars will be giving us the energy and inspiration needed to move ahead.

On Monday, December 15th Mars, the planet of action, passion and direction begins its journey through the sign of Capricorn. Mars in Capricorn is dignified and gets a lot done, Mars is energy and when it enters the sign of Capricorn we are able to hone into our energy reservoirs and direct our energy and efforts towards the goals we wish to attain. Mars in Capricorn is determined, driven and will stop at nothing until it gets what it wants. This is a powerful time of the year to get clear on what you want and don’t want. It is a decisive period of cleansing and clearing so you may prepare for next year.

On December 19th at 8:43pm we began a New Moon in Sagittarius.  We are hopeful and optimistic about the future. Sagittarius, the great Archer, points its arrow to the Heavens suggesting we meditate on the bigger picture of our lives at this time, while we hone in our energy as Mars travels through Capricorn. Create a clear intention of what you want to achieve and attain. Follow through with consistent, focused action. The New Moon in Sagittarius activates all Fire and Air Signs as well as all Mutable Signs so notice what placements you have in your Natal Chart in these signs as these areas of your life will be lit between now and the end of the year. We have an expansive, broad vision of our lives available to us during this period. Hone into your vision for your life.

Sagittarius is the fire that spreads through the fields to burn the old weeds to make space for new sprouts. It burns bright and quick. Sagittarius is where we find the fire that gives us hope, faith and optimism in life. In Scorpio, which is the sign prior, we experience our inner darkness and the darkness of life itself. In Sagittarius, we find the flame of hope. The lighthouse in the dark oceans that lead us home. Notice where in your life you need more faith, hope and optimism. Know that that is available for you at this time. Look to the Heavens, like Sagittarius the Archer, for guidance, strength and clarity.

On December 21st, The Sun enters Capricorn and we began the Winter Solstice. This is the shortest day of the year. A pivotal point in the journey of the Sun, symbolic of the Soul. A time for inner reflection and contemplation of where we are going and where we have been. Notice the spiritual lessons you have learned this year. The obstacles and challenges you have overcome. The dreams, goals and unknown territories ahead of you.

In the sign of Capricorn, we can focus on achieving our aims. Capricorn is the hardest worker of the Zodiac. Working 24/7 to achieve its goals and dreams. Somewhere in your Natal Chart, you have Capricorn, and that is the area of your life where you are ambitious and goal oriented. Notice what placements you have in Capricorn as well as the Cardinal Signs, as these will be highlighted during the Winter Solstice.

Here's an End of the Year and Winter Solstice Ritual to help you prepare for next year:

What you’ll need:

Two small, white candles.

Light the first candle, representative of 2025. Meditate on the flame. Quiet your mind and heart and meditate on this year. What did you learn? What are you ready to let go of from this year? Then, close your eyes and as you blow the candle give it to the Universe and let go.

Prepare to light the second candle. As you light it, invite your Angels and Guides to help you enter the new energies for next year. Light the candle to help you transition from 2025 to 2026. Meditate on creating space in your mind, heart and life for whatever God has for you and focus on what you want next for your life. Don’t turn the candle light off, let it burn all the way.
