The Last Weekend...

The last weekend of Pluto in Capricorn is before us. The next time Pluto returns to Capricorn will be 248 years from now. I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan to be here for that :)

Somewhere in our Natal Charts and in our lives, this weekend marks the end of an Era. An Era that began back in 2008 when Pluto entered Capricorn. Pluto influenced all Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) during this period. Now, Pluto, the planet of irreversible change, death and power, re-enters the sign of Aquarius on November 19th, 2024, and will stay in the sign until 2044. You should already be feeling it and noticing it…

Pluto in Aquarius important dates:

  • March 23rd, 2023 – June 11th, 2023.

  • January 20th, 2023 – September 1st, 2024.

  • November 19th, 2024 – March 8th, 2043.

  • August 31st, 2043 – January 19th, 2044.

Now, Pluto is an outer planet. Outer planets profoundly change our lives but do so slowly and gradually. I like to think of outer planets like ocean waves hitting a hard rock, the change begins to happen the moment the first wave hits the rock, however, the rock may not realize what’s happening until it happens. The change is subtle at first, one wave at a time…the rock begins to transform. Gradually it softens and one day the rock realizes it has completely changed.  This is the power of outer planets. Change is slow, gradual, constant, and deep. The change is permanent. The rock has irreversibly changed, it cannot go back to how things were.

Similarly, Pluto transforms us from the inside-out.  The waves of Pluto bring shifts in consciousness and new states of awareness. When Pluto visits us, a new thought or feeling may arise from within us. A simple thought or feeling can become a seed that is planted in our consciousness, which can inspire us to create an entire, brand new life. Pluto is a transformational force that may rise from within or may show up as a person, spiritual lesson or situation in our lives. Pay close attention to your life.

Notice what came up for you or may come up for you on the dates mentioned above. Notice what placements you have in Aquarius and in Fixed Signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) and their degrees. Notice any subtle shifts.

This weekend is a sort of liminal space between one era and the next. It is a great time to reflect on your life and where you are on the journey and where you wish to go next. Meditate. Journal. Reconnect with yourself. Listen to your heart. Have conversations with God. Pause. Listen. Think about the seeds you wish you to plant next. Pluto in Aquarius is bringing a big shifts in energy not only individually but collectively.

Four things to look for during Pluto in Aquarius

Freedom

Aquarius walks to the beat of their own drum. Aquarius values freedom, originality and independence. The last time that Pluto was in Aquarius, worldwide, we saw the French Revolution and the American Revolution. People fought for their independence and freedom then and are likely to do so again. The concept of freedom may change worldwide.

Individually, there may be a need for greater freedom. What helps you feel free? What do you need to free yourself from? Somewhere in your life, freedom may be calling, explore what freedom means to you in your life.

Social change

Aquarius thinks about the collective not just the individual. Aquarius teaches us about community and our connection to the world around us.  Aquarius teaches us about oneness and brotherhood with humankind. There will be more focus on friendships, social groups, social pursuits, group projects, group activities and social undertakings. We may seek like-minded individuals to hang out and connect with. But there may be a danger of closing ourselves to others who think differently than we do.

Individually, define how you fit in society and what role you wish to play. Explore and redefine your social networks, friendships and groups. Notice your relationship to society and social groups and social causes.

Need to be open-minded

We can become too opinionated and fanatical about our ideas and belief systems under Pluto in Aquarius, so much so that we may become antisocial and rebellious toward anyone or anything that thinks differently than we do. Aquarius at its worst, can be intolerant, stubborn and dogmatic, impersonal, inconsistent, aloof and detached.  Pluto at its worst is obsessive, intense, dominating, controlling and violent. So, watch for that in yourself and in others. Remember, not one point of view, idea or belief system is better than another. No one knows reality for sure…not even science!

Individually and collectively, keep an open mind and open heart during the Pluto in Aquarius epoch. Practice discernment.

Hold a Vision of Our Future

Aquarius is concerned about the future. It uses its high intellect and progressive thinking to come up with new solutions, inventions, innovations and ways of thinking outside the box that inspire humanity to be better. However, there can be a danger of thinking that only Aquarius knows what’s best, so it can become radical, anarchistic, undisciplined and rebellious in that process.

Aquarius is a fixed (steady and unmoved), air (mental quality) sign, which means it has difficulty letting go of a thought or belief system as it identifies with its ideas and ideals. It can fixate and hold on too tightly and stubbornly to its vision of what is right or wrong. Be flexible in mind and heart.

The true potential of Pluto in Aquarius is about learning to get along with one another with tolerance, compassion and understanding. A willingness to co-create with others who think completely differently than we do, and a willingness to compromise, conversate and explore together how we can make the world a better place for all of us – together.

Individually, its time to explore your vision for your life. What future do you wish to create and manifest for yourself? How do you fit in with the greater vision and future of the world? You are part of web of life, and you get to define what part you play in it. It’s time.

So, enjoy your last weekend in our lifetime with Pluto in Capricorn. Invite Pluto for tea. Sip. Express gratitude for the lessons and say your goodbyes.

A new journey begins next week…ready?
