The Unicorn and The Little Red Fox.

The Unicorn sat next to Little Red Fox as she slept on the forest ground. Unicorn looked to the stars, praying that his best friend would be ok. But this time, prayers would not be enough. Little Red Fox was sick. Unicorn walked through the forest and encountered his friend the Monarch Butterfly, they sat and talked and Unicorn asked, what advice do you have for me? And Monarch Butterfly replied “I recall my many travels as we migrate from one country to another, through storms and blue skies…and I’ve learned to accept the journey as it comes…to ride the change in weather…to find comfort in change…Find peace from moment to moment…” Thank you, said the Unicorn. And he continued his walk through the forest. Then, he encountered his friend the Owl. “Dear friend, what message do you have for me today?” Then, Owl flew next to Unicorn and said, “You have eyes little Unicorn to look through the dark just like me. Find the light in the dark. It will guide you so you may guide Little Red Fox to her next journey.” Thank you, said the Unicorn and he continued to walk. He decided to have a drink of water by the river. There Unicorn meets a new friend, Crow. Crow’s feathers were dark and blue. Crow was silent and observant. Unicorn knew of the legends about Crow. It was believed that Crow knew death. So although Unicorn was scared of Crow, he approached him. Crow smiled. “Don’t be scared little Unicorn. Death comes to all of us. Live now.” Unicorn began to cry for there was nothing else to do but cry. And Crow wrapped his wings around Unicorn. And they both cried. And at the distance, the Sun began to rise. And Light filled the sky with pinks and oranges and golds. Both sat and looked at the Sun. Then, there was silence. Unicorn walked back to where Little Red Fox slept. He laid next to Little Red Fox to rest. Little Red Fox opened her eyes and smiled, “There you are my friend!” and they both hugged. Both knew one day the Sun would no longer rise, but not today…Today, Unicorn remembered the wisdom of her friends…Today, there was Light all around them, and they played and they laughed for hours…Today, they lived.
