Week of 8/9-8/16 part one

In order to understand the current energies, it may be helpful to understand the Fire element in Astrology. Aries, the first sign of Zodiac, represents the initial spark of Light. The potent first appearance of Light. It may take the form of a new inspiration, idea or desire. Then, Fire develops into a steady flame. That’s where the sign of Leo steps in. Leo is the center of the strong, steady Blue Light at the center of the flame. It is at this point that the Light seems to become bigger and brighter, hence why Leo’s are so bright, charismatic and warm hearted. Sagittarius is the last of the Fire signs. It represents the spreading of Fire (think Forest Fire) and the eventually dying of the Light.  Sagittarius is a mutable sign and the mutable signs help us transition from one season to another.

Right now, we are at the center of the Flame. It is Leo season. By August 9th, The Sun, Mercury and Jupiter will be in Leo. The Sun, representative of the Soul and its Mission on Earth. Mercury, representative of the Mind. Jupiter, representative of God. Are all asking us to tend the fire within. I find it helpful to imagine going into a cave deep within your Spirit. Sit infront of your own heart’s fire. Pause. Listen to what it has to say. Notice what the state of your energy is. Notice what Lights you up and what dims your Light. Notice what feeds the fire back. Right now, the South Node of Fate is also in Leo. We are being shown how our fires tamed and drained. We are being shown what takes our energy away and what restores it.

I studied Shamanism. And in my studies, I’ve discovered Fire Ceremonies. We can sit infront of a lit candle. Ask God to illuminate our inner Light. Ask God to remind us that we are a spark of God’s Light. And in that remembrance strengthen our fire and slowly rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. Leo Season is asking us to return to Fire. Find your inner Light. Restore your inner Light. And stand at the center of your own heart, where the flame is ever steady, stable and grounded.

The South Node in Leo speaks of feeling tired and drained. Something in our lives has been exhausting. We need to recuperate. Sit down. Breathe. Rest. Resting is a skill we can all sharpen at this time. The South Node is asking us to rest our hearts. Put the burdens down. Lay on the grass. Count clouds. Breathe.

Mars enters Cancer of August 11th. Mars the planet of energy, force and action is entering the sign of its fall. Mars, the warrior, its sensitive and vulnerable in Cancer. Our defenses are down. We are more emotional, needy, sensitive and vulnerable than our norm. This is the time to tend to your soft heart. This is the time to slow down and listen to your emotions and intuition. This is not a time for doing, pushing through or forcing anything. Mars in Cancer is the warrior that puts its sword down and rests.  The Universe is asking us to recuperate from battles and rest with both the South Node in Leo and now Mars in Cancer until September 27th. Mars teaches us to use our energy wisely and part of that is knowing when to act and when to stop and rest. The energy is to be placed in the Cancer area of our chart. Cancer represents home and family. Cancer is what feeds the Soul. What feeds your Soul? What nurtures you? When I was in school I was taught about the concept of an inner child. How would you care for your inner child? Think about you when you were three years old. Would you treat that child as you treat you now? For most of us the answer is no. This is the time to care for your inner child. To give yourself the Love and care you need. While Mars is in Cancer we can be softer and more gentle with ourselves and with others. I like to imagine people as toddlers. And that vision helps me to be kinder and more motherly to everyone around me. Cancer rules Mothers. We can mother ourselves and others. Most people just want to be held and cared for in the arms of unconditional Love. Can you love yourself and others around you, more unconditionally?

Mars in Cancer is asking us to put the swords and walls down. Mars in Cancer wants us to feel at home wherever we are. Imagine that? Feeling safe, comfortable and loved in every place you stand. Feeling like the world itself is welcoming, as if you are held in loving arms all the time. Maybe I’m a dreamer like John Lennon would say. But I wish that for you and for me. That you walk through the Earth knowing that you are held in the loving arms of the Universe. This is the invitation right now. Let go enough to trust that unseen forces are aware of you. That somehow the Universe is guiding you. That’s its ok to rest. It’s ok to put the walls down. You are safe. You are held by Angels. You are protected. I pray that you know and accept that. And in that acceptance, discover and ignite your inner fire!
