Weekly Astrology 8/17-8/23
We’ve begun a new cycle. The New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 12th at 1:36pm EST, opened up a new door somewhere in our lives. We have stepped into a new threshold. As we move into the first quarter Moon, we will become aware of what that means for each of us. The Solar Eclipse activated the Lunar Nodes, also known as the Nodes of Fate. We stepped into a new spiritual lesson and new timeline. However, the new path and new spiritual lessons are still revealing themselves. As the Sun enters Virgo, on August 22nd, a practical approach to the path ahead will emerge.
The First Quarter Moon this week invites us to pause and see how far we’ve come. Notice your goals, desires, and dreams. Review. Redo. Check in with your intuition. As the Sun enters Virgo on August 22nd, new information, insights and opportunities come in. Be ready and pay attention. Slow and steady wins the race.
Virgo teaches us to discern, analyze, and take practical, grounded actions. Virgo is hardworking, reliable and service-oriented. They are naturally humble and always inclined to help. Pay attention to Virgo/Pisces people that enter your life during this period as they will be Teachers and helpers along the path. During this time it will be important not to overanalyze, overthink, worry or be overly critical of ourselves. The Virgo section of our chart is activated as the Sun moves through that area during Virgo season. And it heightens the positive and negative traits of the sign is under. Virgo seeks perfection and can set impossibly high standards for itself and others. Be flexible and kind with yourself and others. Earth doesn’t come with a manual and life down here can be hard. Be gentle. For me, the most beautiful traits of Virgo are humbleness and helpfulness. When the Sun enters Virgo, I seek to be more humble and helpful. More selfless.
The Virgo/Pisces axis teaches us to be service and step away from the Ego. In Leo Season, we learn to shine our Light outwardly. We learn to be self-focused. We learn about self-love, care and respect. Leo is the sign of the King and Queen. In Leo Season, we become the Queen of our kingdom. But now, as the Sun representative of our Soul’s Light moves through the sign of Virgo we have an opportunity to share our Light not just shine it. We have an opportunity to see the Light of Grace within ourselves in the eyes of others. We’ve learned about self-value and thus we can value another truly.
When I was learning Astrology, I found it helpful to imagine Virgo as a Buddhist Monk. Cleaning the floor of the temples (Virgo teaches us about order and cleanliness). Doing the work no one else wants to do for the benefit of the community. There is such selflessness in that. Such humbleness. Such unconditional service and Love. During Virgo season, we have an opportunity to be helpful. To give back to our communities and families without seeking return. We Love for the sake of Loving. In my imagery of the Buddhist Monk, I think of the service that many people who choose spiritual paths do. I think about the work with the homeless, less fortunate and most of all with children. So many children that need help. During Virgo Season, we can be of help to the world. We can give back. Find ways to help. Find ways to give back.
Virgo is also the sign of the Virgen, where we can remember Mother Mary. When I was younger, during a Reiki Training I was giving, I saw Mother Mary. I saw Her walk towards me, I saw Her feet and Her dress. My whole body kneeled and I couldn’t stop crying from the overwhelming Love I felt in my heart. Words will never be enough to explain what I felt that day (I was Buddhist at the time so there was no reason for me to see Her). But I did. And so did the five other students that were with me in that class. They each had an experience with Her. Overwhelming sense of being Loved and the smell of roses in the air. She’s real. I’m not into religion, but I know what I have seen. I trust what I have seen. I see Angels and hear them. They are real too. And there are many, many Spiritual Guides and Spiritual Teachers helping humanity and She’s one of them. During Virgo season seek to connect to your Spiritual Teachers. Seek to connect to your Soul and the Great Wise Universe that watches over you and guides you.
Virgo also teaches us to perfect our craft. Virgo is good with their hands. They are craftman and women. What is your craft? What are you naturally good at? If you don’t yet know then maybe use this time to explore your gifts and talents. Look closer and deeper and you’ll find them. Most of us have more than one. We can take our craft and deepen it. We can become an artisan, an artist and explorer of our own gifts. And in that exploration, share it with the world. Find your craft. Fine tune it. Share it. Have fun with it.
The Sun enters Virgo on August 22nd, and home work will be given to each of us in the Virgo/Pisces sectors of our chart. Pay attention to what comes up for you this week. There is work to do. Fine tuning to be done. But more importantly, an opportunity to be helpful to the world. A world that needs you. It’s time.
