I’m beginning to understand New Moon more than I did when I began my career as a Psychic and Astrologer. During the New Moon a new phase begins. The Moon is in the dark and slowly the Light of the Sun begins to reflect on the Moon so we may see from Earth the Light of the Sun growing on the surface of the Moon. From New Moon into Crescent, the Light increases and the Moon begins to appear to us in the sky.

The Sun represents the Light of the Divine. It is symbolic of the awareness that rises within from the Soul to the personality. During a New Moon we become aware of a new way of being, a new thought, a new idea, a new perspective or a new path appears before us. When we were lost, confused, or in “the dark”, the shining Light of the Divine appears in the sky as the form of the New Moon and our minds and hearts are able to “see the Light.”

A New Moon occurs in the sign of Aries at 27 degrees and 29 minutes on April 17th, 2026, at 7:52am EDT. Notice where Aries is in your Natal Chart. This New Moon will influence all Cardinal (Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn) and Fire Signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) in your Astrological chart. This is the place where a new door is opening for you. The place where the ground is fertile for you to plant something new in your life. Sometimes a new beginning can come with an ending. This particular New Moon, because it occurs in the later degrees of the sign, does include some sort of ending in your life. Perhaps an old way of thinking or doing things may have to occur before you step into a new beginning. Something has to be left behind so you may go on with your life. Aries invites us to be courageous. Aries invites us to stand at the edge of the road where we have never traveled before, and find the strength, sight and courage to move into the unknown.  

The Sabian Symbol for 28 degrees Aries (27°00'-28°00' Aries) is "A Large Disappointed Audience". This symbol represents the opportunity to learn about disappointment. To learn from the ways we have disappointed others and the ways others have disappointed us. At it’s core the Sabian Symbol speaks of expectations. How do expectations keep us from allowing the reality of life to unfold? An example of this, would be going to get favorite meal at your favorite restaurant expecting the food to taste the same every time. It won’t. We build high expectations in our minds only to be let down because things change. Change is the one constant in life.

Somewhere in our lives we are asked to look at our expectations. We are asked to look at our life with Grace.  To face disappointment with Grace. The extremely valuable opportunity at this time is to be free. Free of expectations. Free to allow life to unfold however it may and in that process find acceptance, peace and joy. To welcome the joy of the unknown. What if instead of expecting the meal to taste the same, you allowed every time it comes to be a new experience. To see each moment with new eyes. To have a beginner’s mind. To experience every moment of your life as if it were the first time. To give everyone in your life – a clean slate.

We are human and we seek happiness. But part of human process it the spiritual lesson that lasting happiness will never, ever come from the outer world. Happiness is a conscious choice we make from moment to moment. It is seeking to see joy even when joy is not present. It is seeing the Light even when there is only darkness. Happiness will not come through expectations. We will be let down every time. So why not allow life to surprise us? Allow every moment to a new and fresh beginning.  Find the silver lining.  This is the gift of this New Moon. The courage to face disappointment. Smile at it with gratitude for the lesson and continue walking.

 Mercury, the Messenger of God/Universe, enters the sign of Aries on April 14th, heralding in the New Moon. Notice what comes up for you this week. As new insights, awareness and personal breakthroughs are possible. Mercury in mythology was able to go deep into the darkest places of the Underworld and rise to the Highest Places of the Upper World, where the Divine lives. While Mercury is in Aries, Mercury carries Holy Fire. The Fire that Lights the heart when the heart has lost its way. The Fire of Hope. The Fire of Inspiration. The Fire that Lights the way for us when we have been walking in the dark. Mercury is illuminating our minds and hearts with clarity, spiritual guidance and direction. Pay attention. Notice where the Light is entering in your life. Notice what new insights are coming into your mind. Notice your dreams.

Mercury in Aries is inviting us to pioneer a new path. Whether that path is a new thought, idea, habit or way of being. Whether that path is a new choice or a new life. We are being initiated. Mercury holds the Light in His hands. Mercury lights the road the ahead and asks, “where to now?” Although Aries is impulsive, reckless and quick to make a choice. This is a great time to listen carefully to Divine Inspiration. Align your inner compass with what matters most to you now. Notice the Inspiration that arises from deep, inner wisdom. Somewhere in your life you stand with Mercury at the threshold of a new direction. Pay attention to the signs and synchronicities this week. This is a month of mindful action. The Whole Universe is guiding you. Listen. Make a choice. Take action. Know where you are going. It’s time.
