New Moon in Virgo 2024

The week begins with a New Moon in Virgo at 11 degrees and 04 minutes. We have an opportunity to birth something new in the Virgo sector of our Natal Charts.

The Sabian Symbol of the New Moon is “A bride with her veil snatched away.” The ruler of the chart, Mercury is in Leo. Mercury is now moving direct (after having been in a retrograde period) and is getting ready to change signs from Fire to Earth on September 9th.  Both Sabian Symbol and the forward movement of Mercury, the Messenger, seem to be pointing to something being revealed to us. Our eyes open to something we were not able to see or accept before the New Moon period. Perhaps, as the Sabian Symbol implies it is a rude awakening.

The veil snatched away from the Bride, speaks of opening our eyes to some truth. Perhaps a truth we have not been wanting to see or accept in some area of our lives. During this New Moon Phase, we are invited to accept the truth and face reality, and perhaps overcome disillusionment and disenchantment.  There’s an uncomfortable vibe to “snatched away” so perhaps we receive the truth in a way that is like taking a bandage off quickly and harshly.  We have to learn to adapt quickly and accept the facts.

Further accentuating the need to face an uncomfortable reality or starting a new chapter in our lives after confronting an uncomfortable truth, the New Moon opposes Saturn (the planet of reality and endurance). Saturn tells us the truth as it is not as we want it to be. Saturn teaches us to face reality, to overcome limitations, fears, obstacles and challenges. Saturn teaches us how to handle loss and death. Saturn is the threshold keeper of the infinite and the finite. Saturn is the keeper of time and karma. Saturn helps us to build a strong and solid foundation.

The opposition from Saturn in Pisces to the New Moon shows us that it may be hard and difficult to start a new journey and take a new path, but Saturn teaches us that hard work will pay off. Saturn pays its dues. Saturn rewards hard work. Somewhere in our lives, the pill may be hard to swallow, but it is a necessary step in our evolution. The Bride’s veil is snatched away, perhaps she thought she would have a happy ending like in Disney movies. But the Bride is now having to face the facts of real life and real relationships. Real relationships require commitment and hard work.

The Sabian Symbol invites us to explore the current state of our relationships. What are relationships like for you? Where in your life is the veil being snatched away? Where are you being asked to face reality and face the truth? How are you facing it? How are you accepting it? And what are you going to do about it? Remember, you have the power to change your life and your circumstances. As the New Moon increases in Light, we will become more conscious of what needs to change and how to change it. Action steps and resources will be available.

For some, the opposition to the New Moon may be signaling something that already happened in your life and you may be now dealing with the aftermath. Now is about picking up the pieces, cleaning up, healing and moving forward. Saturn helps us rebuild from the ground up. Saturn is a loyal friend that will tell you the truth how it is, it may hurt but the truth will set you free.  Saturn teaches us reliance and inner strength. This New Moon is setting you free. This New Moon is opening doors where you thought there were only walls.  The Light of the Moon will guide the path ahead. Trust yourself, the Universe (Your Spiritual Team) and your intuition.  

Acceptance is required in order to move forward into a new chapter in your life. A New Moon Phase provides the opportunity for a fresh start in some area of our lives. We get to plant a new seed, change our trajectory and set a new course. We get to pick ourselves up and dust it off. A new journey awaits! In this case, in the Virgo area of our Natal charts. During this Moon Phase, the Virgo and Pisces axis of our Natal charts (notice your placements) is highlighted.

Notice any placements in your Natal Chart in the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) as these will feel the vibes of the New Moon. The New Moon in Virgo will be beneficial for all Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) and Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) so notice your placements in these signs and where they are located in your chart. One last thing…it’s interesting to note that this opportunity is being handed to us before the Nodes of Fate change signs from Aries and Libra (an Axis that teaches us about finding balance between the Self and Others), to the Axis of Virgo and Pisces on February of 2025. I think that this New Moon is giving us a taste of what is possible and yet to come in Spring 2025. Pay attention to your life right now.
