Venus Enters Cancer
Mercury Enters Cancer
Mercury Conjunct Venus

Powerful week ahead! Both Venus and Mercury change signs from Air into Water. Venus and Mercury have been in Gemini teaching us about connection, networking, communication and getting our minds and hearts clear on where are going and what we want. Now, the planet of the heart and the planet of the mind shift gears to deepen our intuition and awaken our emotional intelligence.

Mercury and Venus will conjunct on the same day that they change signs, this is significant because both planets seem to be working together to bring powerful change in our lives. Our minds are awake and aware. Our hearts are open and listening,

We are now being taught about Cancer. Cancer teaches about nurturing our selves and others. Cancer is the Mother principle.  Notice what placements you have in Cancer. This is the area of your life that you seek to feed, protect and nurture. Venus in Cancer is sensitive, intuitive, gentle, tender and vulnerable. Venus seeks emotional comfort, warmth and closeness. With Venus in Cancer we want to cuddle and hug. We want to be held. We want intimacy. We want to drop the guard and feel safe and loved. We want to come home.

Mercury in Cancer is private, self-protective, instinctive, shy and moody.  We are attuned to our unconscious, our past and our roots. Cancer teaches us about support, belonging, family, home and security. Where do you belong? And who do you belong with? How supported do I feel in my life? How can I create more support for myself or for others? What needs Mothering?

How to use these energies (The Opportunity)

The shift from Air into the Water element will benefit Earth (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) and Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces). The Air (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) and Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) may feel challenged by this shift in energy. There is great opportunity for growth and transformation for all signs. Notice what placements you have in your chart in these signs. Remember, we may not be able to control the weather but we can navigate the energies with a good umbrella! Knowledge is power. Use it wisely.

We have an opportunity to heal the past. We have an opportunity to clean up our unconscious habits, behaviors, beliefs and mindsets. We are called to work on our relationships with family and home. This is a time to figure out what does home mean to me? If you have been thinking of relocating or buying a new home this would be a great time to define where, when and how. If you have been thinking of starting a new family, getting married or pregnant, this would be a great time to explore what you want and how you want to create it. While Mercury and Venus travel through Cancer we can make peace with the past and with our families. Practice understanding, kindness and forgiveness.

The Challenge

The challenge of both Mercury and Venus in Cancer, is that our mind and heart may have difficulty letting go. We may be unconsciously too afraid of change. We may reminisce, and feel nostalgic about the past.  We may miss a time that is long gone. We may be more sensitive in our emotions and may want to withdraw and retreat into our shell. If that is the case, then take your time. Explore your feelings. Be gentle with yourself. The waves will subside, and equanimity will be restored.

Another challenge during this transit is that we may be prone to absorb other people’s energies, thoughts and emotions. We may be feel empathic, touchy and defensive. Keep your energy in check. Balance your emotions and keep your mind clear.

Cancer teaches us to master our emotions. Navigate the energies mindfully. Stay grounded, present, aware and awake. Trust your gut reaction and your intuition. Use these energies to define what needs mothering, nurturing and gentle care in your life. Give yourself a big, warm hug…life is not easy, and you are doing a great job! Keep going…
