Week Ahead Astrology

The week begins with Mercury, the planet that rules the mind, communication, commerce and travel, stationing retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius. This is a significant Mercury Retrograde because Mercury in Sagittarius is in mutual reception with Jupiter in Gemini. This means that both Mercury and Jupiter will be working together on an area of our lives.  Important dates to keep in mind:

Mercury Retrograde Important Dates

Mercury Retrograde Shadow Period begins on November 7th
Mercury Stations Retrograde on November 26th
Sun Conjunct Mercury (Mercury Cazimi) on December 6th
Mercury moves out of its Shadow Period on January 3rd

In essence, this Mercury Retrograde period will be over on January 3rd. From now until then, all Mutable Sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) placements in your Natal Chart will feel these frequencies. If you have Gemini or Virgo as your Sun, Moon or Ascendant you will also need to pay attention to what comes up for you during this period as Mercury is your ruling planet.

Mercury Retrograde periods bring the opportunity for course correction. The mind slows down and we are asked to pay close attention to all things Mercurial. Mercury rules thoughts, communication, movement, travel and commerce. These areas are in focus during a Mercury Retrograde.  

We have an opportunity during this period to upgrade some area of our lives by reassessing and examining our lives and what is working and what is not. Notice where in your life, you are asked to make adjustments and improvements. Notice what is showing up in your life that needs reassessing, redoing, and fixing.

During this Mercury Retrograde period, both Mercury in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Gemini are working together. Although both planets are not in dignity, the mutual reception helps them get things done. While Mercury is in Sagittarius, the mind is inspired, quick and impatient, and wants to get there already. However, in that passionate and inspired state one can forget details along the way. Whereas Jupiter in Gemini is in love with the little details so much so that it gets lost in the nuances of information and data. So, both planets right now are like two children on a cosmic see-saw, they must work together to find a balanced state of being. How can we see the bigger picture of what we want and where we want to go, without getting lost, disappointed or disheartened with all the details on what needs to happen to get there? An example of this can be being an artist with an inspired idea of a painting. You see the whole, completed painting in your mind’s eye but now you must actually create it on the canvas. One struck of paint at a time. So you must be patient. Although you see your vision already. You must take the action steps to make it happen.

Similarly, this Mercury Retrograde with Mercury and Jupiter working together is asking us to hold the vision of what we want patiently. We can see our dream clearly. Now we must take one step and then another and then another to make it happen. It may take time and effort, but we must stay committed to the vision, to the dream of the life you wish to have for yourself.

We may get overwhelmed with too many things to do and tasks to accomplish and not know where to start. Too much data. Too much information. Not enough time to get everything done. We may tend to get lost in thought, ideas and other people’s opinions. But we must check in with our own vision. The vision given to you by your Soul. Your heart tells you, if you listen. Your heart’s wisdom shows you what you really want. From now until January 3rd, the Universe invites you to get the vision of your life and what you want clear so that the action steps needed to make it happened are shown to you.  Wrie down a plan. Keep a journal. Meditate. Listen.

On Tuesday and Wednesday and into Friday, we will feel the positive, creative vibes of the Sun trine the North Node (our destiny, purpose and sense of direction) and the Sun trine Mars (the planet of action and passion). We are asked to focus on what lights our inner fire. Sagittarius points us to the limitless sky above us. We are asked to see beyond our current, limiting circumstances and rise above into the infinite sea of possibilities that are ahead of us.

Mars slowing moving into retrograde is asking us to look at our actions carefully. What inspires you to move and act? What lights you from within? What is the fuel that gets you going to get things done in your life? We are asked to have a clear, sense of direction so that action can be inspired within us. We are asked to know where we are going, as time is pushing us forward. The clock is ticking, life is happening. The train of life has arrived, will you get on? Life is calling us forward. It’s time.
