Your Week Ahead

Over the weekend, Mercury and the Sun cross the South Node. The South Node is a doorway of release, surrender and letting go. Both Mercury and the Sun are in the sign of Libra. Asking for balance, harmony, peace and change. Somewhere in our lives something is being surrendered. As I write this a Blue Jay comes to my window. Birds are messengers of the Divine just like Mercury. This is a spiritual sign that we are releasing something from our lives that has served its purpose but no longer fits where are going and no longer aligns with who we are becoming. Life is constantly changing. Nothing remains the same. The one constant is change.

Mars, the planet of force, action and war, is in the sign of Cancer. Mars in Cancer is in it’s Fall. Mars is vulnerable, soft, gentle and very emotional in Cancer. We must be careful that our emotions don’t influence or guide our actions right now. Also, our subconscious, ancestry, family and our past can influence our actions and intentions right now as Mars travels through Cancer. This is a powerful time to question your motivations and intentions. Notice what motivates your actions. Who or what has power to direct your energy? Your thoughts? Your actions?

Mars in Cancer is applying to a trine, a harmonious aspect, with Saturn in Pisces. Both planets are not strong in these signs, however, there is great potential for deep emotional and spiritual healing with this combination. We have an opportunity to become aware of our deepest emotional needs. Cancer teaches us to care for ourselves and others. We have an opportunity to practice deep self-care. We become aware of what we need and who or what needs us.

Cancer also teaches us about family and home. What is home for you? What is family? What is the state of both of these areas in your life?

Saturn and Pisces

Both Saturn and Pisces, in Ancient Astrology, are threshold keepers at the edges of the known Universe. In Pisces, the Soul prepares to surrender back into the unknown. Saturn, to the Ancients was the last visible planet and thus stood at the doorway between the Gods and Humans. Saturn in Pisces is teaching us to surrender to the unknown. We tend to want to hold on to control and have power over the outcomes of things in our lives. However, the uncomfortable truth is that our power and control are limited by the mystery that is Life.

It's like the saying, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” we can have lots of theories, but the truth is we just don’t know.  At some point in our lives, we must face the uncomfortable truths and make peace with them. As Mars in Cancer trines Saturn in Pisces, we can become aware of what we DO have control over. We can become aware of the things in our lives that need our attention and our care. We can become aware of what we CAN change. We can learn alot from water.

The water trine between both planets is teaching us to move fluidly across obstacles and challenges….to move like water, to be gentle as we move around and through. Water is one of the strongest forces on Earth. It doesn’t push, pull or pressure. It isn’t necessarily loud or forceful. It simply flows continuously. It adapts and continues forward.

The water trine between Mars in Cancer and Saturn is Pisces is teaching us to flow with Life. Not to push against, but to surrender and flow with ease as the changes of Life’s seasons occur. Water changes shape into mists, vapor, and ice. And yet it remains the same consistent substance as it changes form. Can we remain connected to our Soul, our deepest substance, as we change through the different phases of our lives? Can we flow with change?

It is interesting that this Water trine occurs before the Libra Eclipse. The Universe is telling us to surrender. What are your ready to surrender? How are you ready to flow with the current of the river of Life instead of against it?

The Libra Eclipse on October 2nd is a turning point. The Libra Solar Eclipse is also a New Moon. And every New Moon phase is the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. This particular Eclipse is bittersweet as it also signals the end of a long chapter in our lives as Pluto changes signs in a few weeks. This Eclipse invites us to turn the page somewhere in our lives and in our consciousness.

We are invited to enter life with a new perspective. We can stand in front of the ocean that is life. We can place our toe to test the waters with fear and timidity…or we can take a deep breath, jump right in and keep swimming with the current of change. It is up to us.
